Reply and forward

Replying under a thread, which address it goes out from and who receives it, and forwarding a message with the original quoted.

Replying in a thread

The reply form sits at the bottom of an open thread — the Reply as mailbox address bar. Click it (or press r when the cursor isn't in a text field) to expand the editor.

How a reply works:

Element Behaviour
Recipient The sender of the last incoming message in the thread. The form has no To/Cc fields — Faldro doesn't offer "reply all". If someone else needs to be included, use Forward.
Mailbox Always the one the thread belongs to.
From Appears when the mailbox has more than one address. By default the address the message was sent to is selected — a reply to mail sent to contact@ goes out from contact@.
Subject Gets a "Re:" prefix unless it already has one ("AW:", "SV:", "Odp:" and similar are recognised too).
Body Only what you write — no quote of the previous message. The In-Reply-To and References headers tie the reply to the thread on the recipient's side.
Signature The mailbox's default signature "for replies".

Above the editor you also get the signature and template pickers, and Attach files below it. A reply goes through the same pre-send checks as a new message.

Send sends the reply immediately (without the 30-second "Undo" window that a new message has). The thread then refreshes with your reply, and a copy goes to the Sent folder on the server. Schedule lets you send it later — see Scheduled sending.

If the thread's mailbox has no SMTP configured, the reply bar shows "SMTP not configured" and the Send button is disabled. Fill in the outgoing server under Settings → Mail accounts.

A reply written under a thread is not saved as a draft — when you close the tab, the text is gone.

Forwarding

Every message in a thread has a Forward button below its body; the f key forwards the first message of the open thread. A separate page with the form opens.

The forward form
  • Send from — by default the mailbox the message belongs to. The sender is the address the original was sent to (if it's a verified identity); otherwise the mailbox's primary address.
  • To (required), Cc, Bcc — with the same suggestions as in a new message.
  • Body — the editor already contains a "Forwarded message" block with the sender, date, subject and text of the original. Write your note above it.
  • The subject gets an "Fwd:" prefix. A forward carries no thread headers — it starts a new conversation for the recipient, while staying in the same thread for you.
  • Signature: the mailbox's default "for replies" (forwards use the same one as replies).

The original message's attachments are not included automatically. If the recipient needs them, download them from the thread and add them with Attach files.

Forward sends immediately and returns to the thread with "Message forwarded."; Schedule sits next to it. Like a reply, the forward form doesn't save a draft.
