Drafts

Autosave of new messages, the drafts list, resuming and deleting drafts, and what autosave doesn't cover.

Updated 19.10.2026

Autosave

The New message window saves itself: about a second and a half after you stop typing, Faldro stores the current state as a draft. The window footer shows the status — "Saving…", then "Saved · 14:32", or "Save failed" with the reason if something goes wrong.

What gets saved: the mailbox, sender address, To, Cc, Bcc, subject and body, including the inserted signature. An empty message (no recipient, subject or body) doesn't create a draft. When you close the tab or navigate away, the browser sends one last save.

Attachments are not part of a draft. After resuming, you need to add the files again.

Autosave only works in the new message window. A reply written under a thread and the Forward form don't create drafts.

The drafts list

The Drafts folder in the left sidebar shows your saved messages — the counter next to the name is how many there are.

The drafts list

Each row shows the subject (or "(no subject)"), the recipients ("to …") or "no recipient", the time of the last save and the mailbox name. Rows tagged "reply" or "fwd" are reply and forward drafts created outside the browser window (e.g. via the API).

Action How
Resume Click the row — the new message window opens with the saved fields. Further changes overwrite the same draft.
Delete The bin icon on the right, then confirm "Delete this draft?". The row disappears without reloading the page.
Send After a successful Send the draft is deleted. If sending fails, it stays — fix it and try again.

Who sees drafts

Drafts are private: they belong to you and to the active organisation. Other members don't see them, and when you switch organisations you see that organisation's drafts. Anyone allowed to send mail can create them.

Drafts vs the server's "Drafts" folder

Drafts in Faldro is the app's own mechanism, not the IMAP server's "Drafts" folder. Drafts saved in another mail program won't show up in this list, and Faldro drafts aren't uploaded to the server.

A sent or scheduled message back to editing

A new message also comes back as a draft when you click Undo in the bar after sending (within 30 seconds) or after scheduling — the message window opens with the content restored, without attachments. The pencil icon "Cancel and edit" in the Scheduled folder does the same. Details: Scheduled sending.
